I chose the first activity so that Liv would focus more on words that were new to her or that she found interesting. I am hoping that by focusing on words more that she will begin to become more fluent in her reading, something that she greatly struggles with. I chose the second activity because Liv is great at tapping into other people's feelings, and this will allow her to do that and then take it one step farther by making her think about what she would do if she were in the given situation. I think the first activity will be more challenging, so I wanted to choose something that she would excel at to follow it up in order to rebuild her confidence!
Heather,
ReplyDeleteI really like the answer frame you chose for Liv (I almost chose this myself)! I also like how you chose this activity based on Li'vs strengths as well as to support her in building confidence as a reader. I believe these reasons are absolutely justifiable and appropriate when catering to Liv's individual needs as a reader. Great job!
I like that you're choosing your activities and thinking about her interests while doing so! You're also working to her strengths, which is so important when readers lack confidence. After we've worked on something really difficult in my classroom, I'll choose an activity that I know my kids will really easily excel at and enjoy--just to get their confidence back up. This is a perfect example of that!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these activities seem like Liv will do great at them! I'm interested to see her answer the answer frame about the journal since she does well with connecting herself to characters in the story. You are doing such a great job with her!
